How we collect, use and look after the personal details you share with us through this website.

Who we are
This website is run by the J. Krishnamurti Self Education Society, which looks after Anand Vihar Retreat, Boradpada Road, Near Ashtang Yoga Hospital, Jambhilghar, Badlapur (W), PIN 421503. For any question about your personal details, write to us at jksesbadlapur@gmail.com or call +91 90672 15747.
What we collect
We collect only what you choose to type into one of our forms. Simply reading the website does not ask you for any personal details.
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message.
- Retreat enquiry form: your name, email address and phone number, the retreat and dates you are interested in, how many people are coming, whether it is your first visit, anything that would make your stay comfortable (for example a health or dietary need, if you choose to tell us) and any questions.
- Volunteer form: your name, email address, phone number, the city or area you live in, how you would like to help, when you are usually available and anything you tell us about yourself.
- Donation form: your full name as per PAN, email address, PAN or Aadhaar number, address as per Aadhaar, phone number, the amount you wish to give, where you would like it to go and any message or dedication.
Why we collect it
- To reply to your message or enquiry.
- To plan your stay at a retreat and look after you while you are here.
- To get in touch about volunteering.
- For donations: to match your bank transfer with your details, to issue your 80G receipt, and to report the donation to the Income Tax Department as the law requires. This is the only reason we ask for your PAN or Aadhaar number and address.
We do not use your details for advertising, and we do not sell, rent or share them with anyone for marketing.
How your details are handled
- When you send a form, your details are emailed to the Society’s email inbox.
- Details from the contact, volunteer and retreat enquiry forms are also saved in a secure database on this website, so that we do not lose your message and can reply to it. Only the Society’s website administrators can see them.
- Details from the donation form, including PAN, Aadhaar and address, are only emailed. They are not kept on this website.
- Our inbox is a Gmail account, so the emails are stored by Google on our behalf.
- Only the Society’s coordinators read these emails. PAN, Aadhaar and address details are seen only by the people who prepare donation receipts.
- Donation details are shared with the Income Tax Department only as required by law (for example in the yearly statement of donations), so that your donation can be credited to your PAN.
How long we keep it
- Messages, enquiries and volunteer details: for as long as we are in touch with you, and then for a reasonable period in case you contact us again. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
- Donation records: for as long as Income Tax law requires charitable societies to keep them. We cannot delete these earlier, even if asked.
Other services used on this website
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. A few pages use services from Google, which may receive your device’s internet address when the page loads, and which follow their own privacy policies:
- Fonts: the website’s lettering is loaded from Google Fonts.
- Videos: the videos on the Start Here page come from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode. Nothing is loaded from YouTube except the preview pictures until you press play.
- Map: the Contact page shows a Google Map.
- Feedback form: the feedback link opens a Google Form, which is hosted by Google.
Our Facebook page is run on Facebook, under Facebook’s own privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
You can write to us at jksesbadlapur@gmail.com at any time to:
- find out what details we hold about you,
- correct anything that is wrong,
- ask us to delete your details (except donation records we must keep by law),
- withdraw your consent for us to use your details. This will not affect anything we have already done with them, such as a receipt already issued.
We will reply as soon as we reasonably can.
Children
If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us on your behalf, including for retreat enquiries.
Questions or complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, please write to us first at jksesbadlapur@gmail.com and we will try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal details, we will update this page and the date at the top.
